Produktinformationen zu „Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias “
Few areas of medicine have evolved as rapidly as cardiac electrophysiology. What were only a short time ago seen to be lethal rhythm disturbances can now be treated with confidence in a diverse spectrum of patients. The first edition of Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias, published over ten years ago, has served clinicians not only as a practical guide to cardiac arrhythmias, but also as a comprehensive reference source. The second edition builds upon the concise style and expert authorship of its predecessor to provide the most up-to-date information on the diagnosis and treatment of this group of diseases.
The introductory chapters begin with historical perspectives of the field and move on to discuss the scientific basis of arrhythmogenesis and diagnostic testing. The book then devotes specific chapters to various arrhythmias, including technical innovations in treatment and insights from clinical trials of and current guidelines for permanent pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. Subsequent chapters focus on arrhythmias in specific populations, including athletes, children, and women during pregnancy. Syndromes such as syncope, long and short QT syndrome, and J wave syndromes are also covered.
Presenting complex information in a clearly structured and efficient format, this book is an incomparable asset to cardiologists and other physicians and health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias.

The aim of this textbook is to provide physicians and surgeons with a comprehensive and concise review of cardiac arrhythmias including the current concepts of arrhythmogenesis, clinical features, diagnoses and state of the art treatments. This book emphasizes decision making strategies in approaching each individual patient and application of technical innovations in specific clinical situations.

Rezension zu „Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias “
"The purpose of this fine text is to help inform physicians and surgeons about recent advances in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias, and to describe how electrophysiologists can best assist in the care of their patients. Written by leaders in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, and well edited by Leonard I. Ganz, Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias provides lucid descriptions of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in patients with heart rhythm disturbances. Tables, figures, and treatment algorithms are used extensively to make this book a practical clinical guide as well as an excellent reference source. This book will prove to be of enormous value both to specialists and generalists responsible for the care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias."-Foreword by Eugene Braunwald, MD, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Partners Health Care System, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA "this book provides one of the most comprehensive yet condensed overviews of contemporary clinical cardiac electrophysiology...this book provided an easily accessible, thorough and concise source of information..." -Acta Cardiologica"State-of-the-art chapters consider both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of atrial flutter and fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation, dysrhythmias during and following myocardial infarction, and the dysrhythmias encountered in pregnancy and in childhood. The reader quickly gains a comprehensive understanding of current practice and is provided with an indispensable reference and clinical guide." -Comprehensive Therapy"The book is very well written. Algorithms for evaluation of syncope or long-term pharmacologic management of supraventricaular tachycardia graphically outline reasonable approaches to patients with these problems. The illustrations are helpful: informative color plates in the middle of the book show how cardiac mapping helps in the localization of arrhythmias. The information in the

book is accurate and up to date...This book would be most appropriate for the physician with a basic understanding of cardiac arrhythmias who seeks a detailed understanding of recent advances in this field, particularly with regard to newer therapeutic techniques and options. A physician whose patient has a particular arrhythmia will find an adequate explanation of mechanism of the problem and descriptions of the most advanced electrophysiological approaches to evaluation and management, along with a discussion of when referral to an electrophysiologist is appropriate and what to expect from that referral." -New England Journal of Medicine"...a welcome addition to the library of the nonelectrophysiologist. Its skillful editing has resulted in a well-balanced text that is suitable for both the general practitioner and cardiologist who encounter arrhythmias in their everyday practice. While covering the basic diagnostic and therapeutic issues, this book also touches on the intricacies of the EP world and provides a better understanding of what the electrophysiologist might offer the patient." - Chest"This is a fine book on cardiac arrhythmias and provides a bridge from clinical cardiology and arrhythmia management to interventional electrophysiology..." -Doody's Health Sciences Book Review Journal

From the reviews of the second edition:
"The book is predominantly focused on arrhythmia mechanisms and interventional electrophysiology, i.e. ablation ... . this is a textbook that covers a huge area of knowledge but has to condense it into a mere 470 pages. This challenge has been well met and has resulted in a readable book, at the expense of fine detail. It will provide a good resource for background knowledge." (Tim R. Betts, Cardiology News, Summer, 2012)
