Niels Birbaumer, geboren 1945, studierte Psychologie und Neurophysiologie in Wien und London. Er leitet das Institut für medizinische Psychologie und Verhaltensneurobiologie an der Universität Tübingen. Birbaumer bekleidet zahlreiche Gastprofessuren im Ausland.
